PEdge 6100 video problems under Win2K

Has anybody else had problems with this model PowerEdge's video adapter under Windows 2000? The Video Adapter is a Cirrus Logic 53xx/64xx

guiwhiz,

Windows 2000 is not supported and has not been tested / validated on a PE6100. I have asked some people about your problem and nobody seems to have any information due to the 6100 not being vaildated with Win2K.

I have installed w2k, no video problems so far that i have seen. you can always disable the video and add a card if you are having problems.

I am having the same problem with Video going crazy while running Win2K server. How can I disable the onboard Cirrus Video so a PCI video card will not get conflicts? ? ?

I recently acquired a Dell PowerEdge 6100 server, and I have had no luck with getting an aftermarket video card to work with it. Mark the Dell tech said the onboard video should disable when another video card is plugged in. Another solution was using the SCU for EISA extensions.

Windows NT and 2000 have mediocre support for the Cirrus Logic 5424 video card. It it limited to 256 colors, and you can see alot of lag when scrolling through files in Windows Explorer. I tried http://www.video-drivers.com/, but they don't have any drivers uploaded for better video quality.

After trying various video cards, I was able to get a Trident 9680 PCI card to work in a Dell PowerEdge 6100/200. It automatically disabled the onboard Cirrus Logic one. I would speculate other Trident products would work, as I am going to get a 9685 when I get a chance.
