PowerEdge R520 iDRAC faulty
Hi all,
I bought a PowerEdge R520 for my test lab, and then came out with a problem in iDRAC. Fans go full speed (I have searched here in the forum and already know why this happens). After some other research over Youtube, a local technician told that this problem might be physical one, and needs repair which costs about $650.
I followed all suggestions from this post.
Still, nothing happens, and the message "Initializing iDRAC ..." keeps going, and after not being able to start iDRAC, gets back to "Configuring memory ..." screen. And all of this go over and over.
I found another solutions in Youtube also, where the guys desolds the iDRAC chip, and uses isopropil to uncharge all the components (another guy changed it and worked too). So, there are strong indications that I maybe :
1) Will need to pay for this repair or do it by my self
2) Switch to a new systemboard and pray for this to work.
I have other server, from other brand, and there are 2 missing fans, so the server keeps accusing faulty state, as all servers are made for full cooling capability. In my R520, there is one missing fan, and I'm wondering if this could be causing the iDRAC to not work properly (this might be a litle bit no sense, since if the problem is a missing fan, I imagine if some screen alert should be shooted).
Any other thing I can be missing here when troubleshooting the whole thing ?
Thanks in advance !

Clarification on Fans. Did you have one processor or two processor on R520. If it have one processor then only 5 FAN is required. If it have 2 processor then all 6 FANs are required. Refer below link for details

Hi Shine K,
Thanks for the kind reply. Yes, the server does have two processors. Then, I think I'll need to acquire the missing fan to test and see what comes in.

Just updating :
I tried with CPU1, and got the same result. So, I'm going to try desold the chip and do some other invertion. If doesn't work, getting a second hand systemboard is the last way to go.
