Hello,

What have you tried so far? Has any hardware been added recently? If so, you might test without it. If not, taking the server to the minimum to POST would likely be the next best step to take. The CPLD is a management device, so going to the minimum to POST can help by eliminating a number of possibilities.

give me a second, too much haos i have to fix the timeline

EDIT: Fixed the timeline, shloud be accurate now. Sorry for the potential confusion, its my first real server and i'm a bit shaky after it booted to bios once

EDIT2: after letting server be on for entire time it took me to write first message, after restart life cycle manager actually booted. Directly from it system went to Boot Manager. I'm not turning it off for now, do you guys have any idea what can i do here before i'm forced to restart?

launched the sys diagnostic from boot menu.

Will keep updating if something that would explain whats happening comes trough.
(oh, and also A1 RAM slot stopped working after the fire, rest i used was fine, but not everyone is checked)

(Forgot to mention, after cleaning i was only connecting trough iDRAC, after swapping CPU's i yanked the cable and i've only used USB stick, keyboard and screen. For now its the only config that let me boot to bios. After first sucessfull bios entrance I was expecting swapping sockets for CPU's was what allowed me to boot once, or that was somehow iDRAC that was messing with me, but then why did it stopped working again for multiple restarts? And then worked when it was running empty for idk, 30 min and got restarted? Still doing the checkup, currently on XMATS32 test)

Hello.
This is also answer for the mod asking what you tried.

I have same problem, but my server is after a fire. It was oveheating and restarted multiple times before power was cut.
iDRAC and front panel were not standing up before cleaning up everything from soot, now i'm at the same spot.

First i took everything out of the server. Was still the same.
NVRAM got jumper on reset here
Then i disabled life cycle controler, to no effect. Enabling it again also no effect. Then i restarted it again, turned server off, plugged out all of the rizers, one Disc controler, lan card, swapped PSU slots, swapped RAM sticks (2 of them on 1st cpu, none on 2nd) and this time after putting them back in and swaping CPU's with eachother, starting server and pressing f2 keyboard flashed (0.5sec without LED's being lit) keyboard light lit up again and server went trough to bios without errors. I turned off the server, took the jumper out, plugged USB stick with linux to the front, (neibour port to where keyboard was plugged in) and turned it on. It in the same place again:  Everytime when boot reaches here, keyboard light goes out, and theres no response from here, just constant _ flash.
If i try to go into f2, when it asks me to confirm with f1 or f2 second after pressing any of the buttons keyboard lights turn off and theres no response from here.

It booted to bios once, i'm not letting this server die. Friend who owned it before the fire surrendered on it when iDRAC was not even lighting its diode in the case, but i got it to bios once after cleaning it for few days and i'm willing to spend as much time on solution as is needed.

But i need ideas. Please help.

Hi, @Onder_Atsan
As you can see from another post by user Ilkanar, we advised him/her to do raise an official ticket. We recommend you the same.

Wish you a good one.

If you bought server second hand dont waste your time. Ticket system is only for the Lords, peasants like us have to find solutions on reddit. And usually Dell dont let even their Lords fix them, but send them new ones instead.

We have the same issue with 2 R720. They run for months, no issues. We usually have to reboot them to get patches installed.

Hang on CPLD

Power off, disconnect *everything*, server just hanging in the rack
Hold the power button for a few minutes

Come back the next day, plug it all back in, power on

Hang on CPLD

Rinse; repeat

However... every once in a great while, it will continue, and run normally until the next reboot.

Nothing has changed on this system hardware-wise in man years
