how to update all pieces of firmware on PowerEdge R730xd

Hello,

I have a, PowerEdge R730xd, which needs its firmware updated.

I booted the system and entered the System Setup and found the following,
- System BIOS Version 1.1.4
- System Management Engine Version 3.07.141
- System CPLD Version 1.0.1
- UEFI Compliance Version 2.3.1
- iDRAC Settings Version 2.00.00.44
- iDRAC Firmware Version 2.02.01 (Build 92)
- iDRAC License Enterprise
- IPMI Version 2.00
- Backplane1 Firmware Version 1.09

This system also has, LifeCycle Controller, available via F10, I believe.

I am familiar with updating the BIOS on a workstation.  But, I have never updated the BIOS on a server.

If someone could point me in the correct direction to read instructions describing the steps to update the firmware I will appreciate that.  Or, can the LifeCycle Controller do all the firmware updates required?

Thank you.

Hello

The LifeCycle Controller on the R730 can update almost all of the hardware. I'm fairly certain it can update everything that you listed. You can also use Dell Update Packages through the iDRAC web interface.

If you have several systems to manage then you may want to look into OpenManage Essentials or Enterprise. Our OpenManage product line has several management and monitoring applications. The Essentials and Enterprise applications are centralized management and monitoring stations. You can use them to push updates to several systems.

You can find downloads on the support page for the server. The download page for the updates has an installation instructions section if you want to install through an operating system or some other method.

And, to double-check.
If the "Current" version matches the "Available" version then that piece of software is already at its latest version?zfollowup.png
