Windows 2003 not recognizing newly installed RAM

Hi, I have a PE2850, running with 2GB of RAM, I removed the RAM and added 4GB of RAM. Windows 2003 is only seeing 3.25G, but in Dell OpenManage it sees all 4GB. any thoughts.

I am reading that you removed the 2GB of ram, and replaced with a total of 4GB of RAM. If you have more than 4GB, keep in mind you have to use an enterprise edition of Windows Server. In the BIOS, do you have the memory test run after a hard boot? (ie after it has been turned off, but not restarted) is the memory passing? Also, the Dell PowerEdge diagnostics (ver. 2.8) has a memory test utility that can be run in windows. Also, do you pass any parameters in windows "c:\boot.ini" such as /3GB, or /PAE?

Thanks for the great insight. You are correct, I did remove the 2GB and added 4GB. I did not run any tests because Dell OpenManage sees the 4GB. I don't pass any parameters in windows "c:\boot.ini" such as /3GB, or /PAE? Should I? can you suggest the parameters to add. Thanks for any help.

Yes, you'll want to run the /PAE switch
