Gen 2 Firmware - export - import?
Any doccumentation on this feature? Before gen 2 FW we moved our MD1000's from SAN to san pretty freely, now when we do it, it loses the MD3000i disk groups completely. The disk groups on the MD1000 remain uneffected.

Documentation on disk group migration with the Generation 2 FW can be found at:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/md3000/en/2ndGen/UG/PDF/UGA00MR2g.pdf
Process is the same for both the MD3000 and MD3000i.
Do you mind if I ask how you're using disk migration?

We use our MD1000's for full enclosure protection. It is essentially our san to san copy since the MD3000i doesn't offer that feature. It seems an excellent work around for us. (cheap too)
We periodically move the MD1000 to our DR site and update / copy the disk groups back to the MD3000i located there, and also we keep a spare MD3000i at our production HQ in case our main production MD3000i goes out completely or the production disk group fails, ect..ect...
On the MD1000, what we do is we have same named odd_week and even_week virtual disk copies of our production virtual disks that we take weekly, leaving one always in tact. Odd and even denotes if the week of the year is an an odd numbered week or an even numbered week.
We script the snapshots of all VM's / disk groups at Friday 9pm, then do the disk copies from the snap shots over the weekend.

Thanks for the detail!
Knowing your usage I can understand why you need the CLI support. See the Start Disk Group Import/Export section in the CLI guide:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/md3000i/en/2ndGen/CLI/PDF/CLIMR2g.pdf
It's very straightforward.

PS: Thanks for the link to the updated Storage Manager Manual.
What I was really looking for was CLI commands for the Exports / Imports, espcially the import reports before importing?
