Share RD1000 drive for PC Client access?

We are currently backing up up our PC Windows 7/8 clients to server connected external USB HD using Acronis True Image. Is it possible to share the RD1000 drive so clients can store their backups on the removable drive along with the server backups created with the included software (assume it's Symantec Quickstart)? Thanks for any clarification. Michael

Hello Michael,

You can share out the RD1000 & have it so that you can have the other client machines see the RD.  Now in doing this you can only do that on the OS level.  So if it is windows then you can share out the drive and have your client machines connect to it & can drop the files there. Now doing it this way you can’t use Acronis True Image backup software to write to the RD1000 as it will need to format the cartage so that it uses it’s file type.

As for using Symantec Quick start it doesn’t allow you to backup client machines with the quick start license.  What you would need is the desktop/laptop license and once that license has been added then you can set it so that it can backup all of your client machines.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
