I've bought the E5-2680v4 but when installed it doesn't boot (I can't get after post / it's not showing the Dell logo and it doesn't boot the OS). Bios is already updated to A34. Do you have any idea to troubleshoot the issue?
When I did an upgrade from E5-1620 v4 to E5-2680 v4 on a 0K240Y board, it was just a simple swap. Nothing else needed to be done. If the machine couldn't get a POST, what you can do now is swapping back the old CPU to affirm the motherboard working condition. Then proceed with the new CPU again.
If your system will boot with old CPU but not with the new one, it's very highly possible that the new CPU is the cause, requesting seller for an exchange/return.
Although not necessary, you can perform cmos reset using a blue jumper.
"Although not necessary, you can perform cmos reset using a blue jumper." If the size 2032 battery is 5+ years old, now is a good time for a new one. It's a good idea to remember when updating hardware.
Thank you. I've already reinstalled the old CPU and it works fine. I've talked to the seller and it's sending me a new one. I'll also try to reset the CMOS. I'll let you know soon!
Thank you for the reply @Chino de Oro. I actually don't know that one method is better than the other. I've used the link you gave quite a few times myself. Redxps630 always mentions the RTCRST jumper in case just replacing the battery doesn't work, which he's had happen.
It's in the context of better to get the maintenance done (battery change) at the same time as the reset, not a better result. After reset, OP could also rule out dead battery as the cause, saving extra step in troubleshooting.

Yes, the E5-2680 v4 will work on your 0K240Y board.

Thanks Brad for added suggestion. Yeah, it's a better method of reset plus doing required maintenance at the same time.
