If you boot to Windows, right-click on your desktop and select Display Settings. You should find a setting (Multiple Displays) that will allow you to either replicate the display on the laptop onto the external monitor, -or- to extend the desktop. You can also set which will be the main display when extending them.
Can you call up that settings?
It's possible you need to set a resolution for the external display that is compatible with the 7520 (1920x1080). Start there, and then try other settings.
