M4800 Broadcom USH Misconfigured

I'm having some trouble with one device in my M4800 laptop: the Broadcom USH (Dell ControlVault) is reporting as a misconfigured USB1.1 device on the 'History' tab of the SupportAssist utility and on the Troubleshooting tab if I test USB ports - even though on the main testing screen it is showing that there are no problems with the system, and in the device manager, it says this device is functioning normally. I have installed the latest firmware and the driver for this particular machine and Windows variant (8.1) but cannot cure this problem. Can anyone advise?

Chipset Drivers are required

Do firmware and Driver

M4800 Firmware HTF2M
M4800 Driver HGX2G

I believe the firmware and driver are the ones I've already executed on this machine (HGX2G and HTF2M). For the chipset, I tried installing the 'Intel Chipset Device Software' from the page for this machine again, but the problem remains - the device is coming up as 'misconfigured'.

You must run clean install with chipset and all other drivers installed.

You must then Run the updates as administrator.

Windows may need to be re installed clean and cmos cleared.

Fixing registry entries and removing malware line by line is not supported here.

Windows had only just been installed on the machine from a system image downloaded from Dell, so I very much doubt malware or anything similar is involved. I let SupportAssist install all the drivers originally, so I'm assuming it did it correctly. I believe the chipset drivers were part of that installation. The Broadcom USH drivers did not install and had to be installed separately.

Are you recommending that I reinstall Windows?

system image downloaded from Dell

means NONE of the required drivers were installed.

You can download the CAB file with the drivers.

Then use 7zip to extract to the My Documents Folder

then Right Click on Devices and say update from my computer instead of the internet.

The Dell ControlVault drivers are where the USH files reside

Yes, I'm aware there were no drivers with the system image. As per previous post, I downloaded the drivers either from the Dell website (using the service tag) or using the SupportAssist utility. The last to be installed was the Broadcom USH driver. My point about the new install from a system image was relating to the possibility of malware.

Is it your view that I should go through the process of reinstalling Windows and installing the drivers again?
