ME Firmware Update Failed: Image Loading

Hello,

I was wondering if the Dell is aware of the above error that happens during BIOS installation. The error affects Precision 5510 when upgrading to 1.6.1 System BIOS. I suppose the BIOS update goes fine except that error.

The full error can be seen in the YouTube screencast I shot here.

Regards,

Sudhir Khanger.

Also had the same issue with also the 1.26 bios patch making my PC unstable and unusable. Using the bios recovery tool was able fix the instability issue on an older 1.24 bios as a base. Is it possible to go back to the more stable 161 bios ? Or even the original bios then update it that way.

I have been getting this error ever since I tried updating my BIOS using Dell Command Update Application, and just today I was prompted to install the BIOS update which also failed and now it is still giving me this error, I am using a Dell Latitude E7280. Can you help?

I Have same error, and I fixed it accidently, I Don't know how I did it , but I try to remember the steps:

1- I downgrade bios to last recommanded version before 2018

2- I Disable Engine Management from Device Management.

3- I download Engine Management driver from Intel website. and Install it.

4- I download last urgent bios. and install it . then the processing says : ME Firmwae Update Failed: Image Loading

then he says: ME Update passed.

then the green message says : Firmware Updates successful. Reboting your system.

I Think last urgent bios disable Engine Management before he update it. so that why he failed to loading image.

I have over 40 (forty) Dell 3240 i5 AIO's that have had this issue for over 2+ years. Spoke with Dell Support several times. Tried many different things. All Dell updates, BIOS updates, Windows updates have been completed (no change) . They wanted me to reinstall Windows (didn't fix issue). Had no answer to the problem. Computers all work and have had no real issue as far as I could tell but sure would have like for it to have been fixed. They were under warranty when the issue started and not fixed when issue brought to Dell. Now all are out of warranty.

Wow, after hours of search, your solution is the only one make sense and work. Downgrade to a proper BIOS to enable HECI is the first key, Apply a ME firmware update utility that is compatible is another key. No wonder this is such a hard fix. you nailed it and this should go to dell support training.

@DSI Tanneurs

Massive thanks for providing this fix. It’s been driving me nuts all evening but following your instructions worked.
