I was having troubles with my video editing software after a system rebuild (Win 10 pro on Dell Precision M6600 w/ 32GB RAM, 500GB SSD, 1T HDD), and it came down to me simply disabling Optimus in the BIOS.
Once I disabled Optimus, the nvidia drivers automatically updated for the Quadro 4000M chip, and after the next reboot, my software ran fine.
