Precision 5550 using WD19TB dock connected Triple external 1920x1080 monitors - seeing issues
Hello, All.
Using a new company issued laptop Precision 5550. Device manager states it has Intel UHD and nVidia Quadro T1000 video cards. The IT dept carries WD19TB and WD19DC docks but weren't clear which would work best for me so they gave me WD19TB. I can get the WD19DC, if that is what that will address my requirements.
I have three 1920 X 1080 monitors. I am not using (or plan to) use any 4K monitors.
All updates where applicable, including BIOS as well as update to (both) docks are on the latest ones. For video, I downloaded them directly from intel and nVidia sites.
The dock has two Display Ports and one HDMI video output connector. In trying to get triple monitors working, it has been nothing but a frustrating experience. Seeking advice and direction to that correct path.
What I am unclear is how are both video cards (Intel and nVidia) are utilized. When I launch the nVidia control panel, with the three monitors connected, the diagram shows all connected to the Intel UHD graphics.
Issue: With three external monitors (two DP, one HDMI) connected to the dock. The third monitor gets video if the close the laptop lid, and the video is extremely degraded in resolution or sometime not seen at all)
In summary: Is it even possible to have three external monitors working (and possibly using the laptop lid as the 4th), or at a minimum, three external with the laptop lid closed? Also, what do I need to do to utilize the nVidia card as it seems nothing is using it as all monitors appear to be using the intel UHD graphics.
thank you,
XMFan
