Precision 7520 SSD Upgrade.

Question

Hello. After looking through the posts I can't find just the answer I would like to know. Everything seems to dance around my question. I have a Precision 7520 with a Toshiba KSG60ZSE512G SATA 512GB SSD. I want to upgrade to a 1TB SSD. I see lots of stuff on changing to an NVMe it upgrading an NVMe. I am thinking the best option for me (fewer headaches) is to go to something like a Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E1T0B/AM). Is this a simple clone and replacement process? Are there any points I need to be aware of in the upgrade process? What is the best software to clone for direct swapping? I know there is no room for 2 SATA drives in my computer. I was planning on turning the old one into external storage. On that point, what is the best external case for an SSD?
