Hi Dr0pSh0ck,

The M6700 has an Intel QM77 Express Chipset and the highest rated CPU that it supports is the i7-3940XM. Dell shipped the M6700 with this CPU so upgrading to it shouldn't be an issue.

The highest rated GPU that Dell shipped was the Nvidia Quadro K5000M. It may be possible to upgrade beyond this but I'm afraid that's not something I can advise on.

I would make sure that the BIOS is up to date before applying any upgrades.

I've got a M6700 dual core ... does this mean if I upgrade to quad core CPU I can use the two extra SIM slots an can upgrade to 32GB RAM ?

Thanks Axel

Installing a quad core CPU unlocks all four RAM slots.  You can go all the way to 32GB.

While the Quadro K5000M was the fastest supported GPU, there are options for some extra GPU power if you don't mind modding your drivers.  With modded drivers you can go all the way up to the Quadro M5000M or an Alienware GTX 980M.
