Trackpad left vs right click issues on Precision 5540

I have a Dell Precision 5540 laptop that has a trackpad and touch screen.   In applications like Outlook or Chrome where there are widgets/buttons/links that have both left and right mouse click actions, then sometimes all I get is the right click options when I press on the trackpad with just my single index finger.   With a single finger trackpad press, I'm expecting the left click options for the selected widget/button/link.   If I single finger press on the touch screen, then the left click works fine.
