Very slow boot after installing second SSD on 7760
Hey there,
I've installed a brand new Samsung 980 PRO nvme m.2 in my Precision 7760. Now the system boots very slow, the DELL logo remains for about 90-120 seconds and fans start running heavily! Tried to fix the boot manager but access to bootrec/fixboot is denied. I noticed entering CMD with a flashdrive shows "x:\windows\sytem32". I have even assigned a new drive letter to the FAT32 Volume, formatted the volume and used bcdboot to create a new startentry, but there is no change.
I had installed a fresh OS with the help of SupportAssist OS Recovery. All drivers are updated to diagnostics do not show any issue. Before installing years to everything ran smoothly.
Hopefully someone can help. Thx in advance!

Please go to Device Manager. right click Samsung 980 Pro drive, select Update or check manufacture website for an updated firmware for the drive. Hopefully this will help fix the boot time.

EDIT: Meanwhile I wanted to double check and removed the Samsung 980 PRO. I booted the 7760 a couple of times with only the original SSD installed, but the issue remained! Now the strange thing: I reinstalled the 980 PRO and was about to go for a second OS Recovery when I realised that the system suddenly booted straight in 26 seconds. Boot manager worked fine. Now the downside is, that I made a dozen startups and the boot time is somehow erratic. I got 5-6 boot processes with about 26 seconds, followed by 2-3 with about 86 seconds, then one good again and another three bad... How ever the time offset between fast and slow always seems to be about 60 seconds.
I still can't make any sense of it but hope that someone can do Thx in advance!

Just for the protocol, I noticed that I get the following continuous power event logs: "Power On - Not applicable" and "Power Off - ACPI power management" (latest BIOS Version 1.19.0 is installed)...

There are issues with Samsung 970 and 980 SSD so Samsung is working on the problem

I think it's definitely a technical issue. I can't edit my original post, but it's not about the SSD! The error logs continued after removing the Samsung 980 PRO. I'm facing random boot times, either 26 or 86 seconds and continuous power error logs (Power On - Not applicable" + "Power Off - ACPI power management" + "Power Off - ASF2 force off"). Furthermore, if not disabled, there is an intrusion alert that the cover has been removed on each startup. I guess the different boot times are a result of an extended POST scan?! I have reinstalled the OS twice, double checked all drivers and firmware. I will return the 7760 to the vendor and claim my money back.
