Why does Precision Have Numeric Keypad

Most if not all Precision Laptops have numeric keypads. Why is this not just an option?

I would prefer more useful dedicated keys for page up/down, volume, wifi on/off etc like on my old Latitude E7440.

Surely only a minority use the numeric keypad or am I completely out of touch?
