"Intel Management Engine Components Installer" won't update
On my Dell Precision M6700, the current version of the "Intel Management Engine Components" Driver is 11.0.5.1189, and Dell Command Update suggest that I install 11.0.8.1194 over it. The update attempt proceeds without an error message, signalling success at the end. However, after that, double-checking the version tells us that the installed driver is still old. Moreover, Dell Command Update keeps suggesting the same update over and over again. Uninstalling the old drivers, rebooting, and an attempt to install the new ones did not help. Since the update is marked "critical", I wonder what's the fix? The issue with the Intel Management Engine Components Installer has been there for many, many months! Screenshot:

I have the exactly same problem, just the laptop is XPS13.
Intel-Management-Engine-Components-Installer fails to update both through the Support Assist and Dell Command Update.

@TESTERPL can you advise exactly what version you are trying to install - is it this one
Rev A04 - https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=4c0m1&oscode=wt64a&productcode=xps-13-9370-laptop
Looking at the installation instructions there is nothing special or specific about the process apart from the recommendation to have the latest chipset driver installed - do you have this up to date?
Are you running the latest BIOS on the system?
Have you tried running the exe file in administrator mode?
Have you tried downloading it to another folder and running the exe from there?

I have a Precision 5530 laptop, and have had the same thing for probably 18 months. Every separate attempt to update has failed - probably close to 10 times. Bios etc is all up to date.

@MikeRKS thanks for adding to this.
Can you advise at what point of the installation it fails and any error messages the system generates.
Can you install previous revisions of the driver or is it A04 that won't install?
Is the chipset driver confirmed as being the latest version?
Have you tried reinstalling the latest chipset driver again and then updating the IMEI update?
I have found the following recommendation direct from Intel - can you try these steps please outlined in the first post

Hi Alan, Thanks for responding.
The IMEI version I have installed is 1904.12.0.1208 from January. So not quite 18 months.
It does appear that it's also unable to install a new Chipset driver. I can't see the Chipset driver in Device Manager. Only "C240 Series Chipset Family LPC Controller (CM246)" with a driver date that weirdly says it's from 07/18/1968.
There's also a Chipset SATA/PCIe controller, but I assume that's different.
The Chipset driver it's trying but unable to install (via Dell Optimizer) is version 10.1.17541.8066 from 03/05/2018.

OK... update.
I was suddenly able to update the Chipset driver. I still wasn't able to install the IMEI, but looking at the log seemed to suggest it was a Windows 10 compatibility issue. I tried to Troubleshoot Compatibility, but that also didn't work.
So I found an IMEI driver on the Intel site. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28679/Intel-Management-Engine-Driver-for-Windows-8-1-and-Windows-10?product=67496
And.. that worked. It installed!
