968W Printer shuts down and initializes

968W AIO Dell: When trying to scan or make copies, the printer shuts down and turns back on. It will pass thru a blank paper when trying to make copies or scan after it re-initializes. After several tries, it will then make the scan or print. Frustrating! It behaves normally when controlled by PC; just does this when I use buttons on the actual printer itself.  Just started doing this in the last month.  Have had printer for three years+.

Goodwintony,

Unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick for 60 seconds. This will reset any error messages the printer is getting.

What happens?

Tony,

The power brick must be removed from the back of the printer for 60 seconds. It gives the printer time to de-engerize and resets it. If the power brick remains in, it still keeps it's emmory, even in a power failure.
