Dell 3300 Wireless Printer Adapter Installation Problems
Hi,
I just bought a Dell 3300 Wireless Printer Adapter for my 1720 Inspiron (running Vista) but can't get it installed. While hooking up the adapter to my computer and attempting to install the software, I get a message immediately after configuration that "the wizard was unable to communicate with the wireless printer adapter." I have everything with my wireless connection configured correctly and all the wires are connected-- the problem seems to be with the adapter's sensing of the network. ONLY TWO LIGHTS ARE ON--the third wireless light isn't on.
Any suggestions? This is driving me batty. Thanks!

dappindan,
What printer are you trying to connect the Dell Wireless Printer Adapter 3300 to?

It's an AIO 926. But to be clear, I haven't even made it to the printer connection stage because I can't complete installation of the 3300 because it isn't communicating with my wireless network.

dappindan,
I have a Dell Photo 964 Printer attached to my Dell Wireless Printer Adapter 3300. Below are the instructions and you'll need to take your time. At anytime, you have questions, stop and ask before proceeding as you have to do things in a set order to get it to work.
Please follow the instructions below and then tell me what happens.
Please use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings in your wireless router. I use channel 11.
Make sure your computer has the latest Windows Updates, especially .net framework, needed to run many applications and the latest Java.
Download and run this patch to completely remove the printer from your computer. Run the patch, a MUST on Vista machines, until it prompts you to restart your computer.
Restart your computer.
Download the proper drivers.
XP Drivers
Vista 32-bit Drivers
64-bit drivers
All other drivers
After router is done, now setup your wireless print server/printer.
3300 Utility
3300 Firmware
Attach the 3300 to your computer using the USB Cable and insert the 3300 disk. Follow the instructions. It should ask you for the network ID, type of security and password.
Install the proper drivers, choose network. you should see the printer, click add, choose I'm using a wireless print server and follow the instructions. You should be able to print, scan, copy, etc.
As for scanning, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder. In the OCR Folder, there is an Abbyy Folder. right click on setup.exe, that's in the Abbyy Folder and left click run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.

I'm having trouble connecting my 3300 to my NETGEAR WNDR3400. Have tried several of the suggested fixes to no avail. Any thoughts on this from you experts out there in Dell land.
