Inspiron 620 wont turn on

Question

I have an old dell inspiron 620 that I had gotten and was working on upgrades for it. It was functioning well until I had unplugged the front power buttons connectors. After that, it did not want to turn on. I have done trial and error, and plugged it in every way i could think of. I then went and bought another power button with new connectors, nothing. That did not work, so I then bought another, but this time for the optiplex connectors the motherboard has. since it is also used it the dell optiplex 390. That gave the same results. Its not that the motherboard burned out, their is a red light on the side that turns on when it is connected to the power. Any tips on what im doing wrong?  Thanks. (also, the light was red when the 620 was working, but I didnt bother with it since it was working fine at the time.)

move jumper from password jumper pin to cmos jumper pin 1 and 2 for 5 sec, then move back
