Dell c1760nw wireless printing fail from Mac OS10.6.8

Lotsa info here.  Just trying to be complete at start:

Trying to get a Dell C1760nw printer to work wirelessly with MacOS10.6.8 laptops. Printer works fine via USB cable with Mac & Win laptops. It also prints wirelessly via WinOS laptops, but not the Macs.

The WPS push button connection btw printer and router did not work, even for the WinOS laptops - WinOS required manual config.

Dell Drivers & software updated on Mac & Win laptops via Dell.com downloads. Mac version=1.1
The printer firmware = 17.95
Firmware was updated from Dell Downloads 10/24/13 via the WinOS laptops (no option to update the firmware via the MacOS units?).

Mac printer lists are configured for both the USB cable printer version and the wireless network IP address version. Both icons show in the Mac printer list.

During a wireless print job attempt from the Macs, the printer shows "ready to print" but never responds with a click or display change or any other action.  On the Mac Print Queue screen, the Wireless IP printer list icon is selected and shows a yellow "busy" light, and the text shows "Connecting to Printer with the spinning dial - it never makes the connection. The printer widget in the Dock shows a red error dot. If the print job is deleted from the queue, the printer icon status changes to green "idle".(no USP cable connected, so the USB icon shows green Idle).

Printer IP address is same in Printer Settings report, Printer onboard display, and Router interface
Router is Netgear N300 with WPA encryption (more below).
Macs & Win laptops all successfully access the router for www and email.

Router interface lists the Dell printer's IP in the Attached Devices screen and identifies it as the Dell Printer.

The router successfully pings the printer wirelessly. Ping report shows 4 packets sent, 4 replies received.

Printer Device Setting Report shows printer operating through port 9100 and all the other port status items are marked enable (LPD, WSD, SNMP/UPD, EWS)

Printer report also shows these Network items:
Bonjour (mDNS)=enabled
IP Filter=Off
SSid= correct network name
Network mode=Infrastructure
Wireless Status=Good
Link Chanel=6
Encryption=WPA-PSK-AES/WPA2-PSK-AES

Any thoughts? Things to try?
Some 801.xxx mismatch between Mac & Router? (but the Mac connects to router for www and email)
Is a port not open on the Mac?
Is there a Link Channel setting on the Mac?

Mac Firewall is on.
Mac Print sharing is disabled. No desktop present. These laptops are not all present all the time, so cannot use one as a shared print node. (But I tried - printing failed with print share enabled - yes, I'm the admin)

Mac can ethernet cable into the router to connect to Dell printer settings via the Dell interface. Settings can be adjusted, but wireless printing fails from the interface.

Any ideas or experience?

Thanks
