"Left Cartridge INCORRECT" error: Dell 962 AIO printer

When I was printing off my Windows 7, my pages end up blank. I keep getting this error for my black ink cartridge which works fine for the past few weeks, then one day it just decides not to work. This is the third time this has happened.

What I've actually been buying are the "High capacity cartridges" for the 942 printer, because it always shows up whenever i want to buy ink and it always seemed like a good idea to get that considering how much we potentially use. Would this have anything to do with it and should i just stick to buying standard capacity cartridges, or is it time to replace my printer which i have used for about 8 years?

enzocuizon,

Printer a Dell 962 printer ir a Dell 942 printer? The both use Dell Series 5 ink cartridges.

Do they make a Dell Series 5 High Capacity ink cartridge?

I have seen some Dell Series 5 ink cartridges have the sensors fail.

Unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the printer for 60 seconds. This will reset any error message the printer is getting. Plug the printer back in.

Turn on the printer. Open up the printer and take out the black cartridge and reseat it. Do the same for the color cartridge. Now close the printer and it will print an alignment page. Any error messages?

If you still get the error message, then it's possible that the sensor in the Dell Series 5 ink cartridge is bad. If this is a new Dell Series 5 ink cartridge, then take it back to the place of purchase for a replacement or refund.

black = black side(left)                               color = color side(right)

photo cartridge = black side(left               color = color side(right)

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges can be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's Website.

It's possible to purchase a Dell Series 5 ink cartridge with a bad sensor. Please take it back to the place of purchase for a replacement.

I have tried that twice today, and irt still shows that error. I'm thinking about maybe getting a new printer, three cartridges have already failed with only about 25-40% of ink used. It was a great printer though, best ive ever owned. thanks

enzocuizon,

The printhead being on the Dell Series 5 ink cartridges, made it easy to just replace them each time, so it kept running. They say the average for a printer is 5 years, but I had mine longer.

Good luck with your new purchase.

Take care,

Rick
