scanner crops to foreground

works great except, it crops the page down to the foreground image, i want to include the background because the has a color, the clor of newsprint sketch paper.

i m an artist. i am scanning in a lot of work i did with very dense black japanese sumi ink on yellowed newsprint. That newsprint background is an important part of the piece for me since i like th ecolor combination.
