What user permissions are required on Windows Servers for Active Agent-less discovery.

Can anyone tell me what level of permission is required in order to do a Agent-less discovery of WIndows Servers from ProShere 1.5?
Thank you,
Mark P.

Re: What user permissions are required on Windows Servers for Active Agent-less discovery.

Hi Mark

ProSphere guides are availalbe on powerlink under ProSphere or from the product page https://support.emc.com/products/prosphere or from the "?" > Search All Documentation within the UI

Review Preparing for Deployment Guide pages 9 to 15 if configure Windows hosts and WMI

Discovery must be done under the access profile of a user that is an Administrator or a member of the Administrators group. These credentials are entered as WMI credentials in ProSphere. The EMC ProSphere Administrators Guide explains how to create access credentials.

Review Preparing for Deployment Guide pages 16 to 17 if configure Windows hosts and WS-MAN

As an alternative to performing host discovery with WMI, you can use WS-MAN. This section describes how to configure WS-MAN to work with ProSphere. Windows Remote Management (WinRM) is the Microsoft implementation of the WS-MAN protocol.

Note: Currently the WinRM service supports basic authentication only for local accounts. You cannot use a domain account for basic authentication.

The EMC Host Configuration Utility helps customers verify the settings discussed in the Preparing for Deployment Guide, which enable a Windows host to be successfully discovered in ProSphere or in SCA. Optionally, the utility automatically configures the settings. The utility is available on Powerlink. Navigate to Home > Support > Software Downloads and Licensing > Downloads P-R > ProSphere.

Conor
