MS Office Prof Edition 2003 for home use docs // Acad2006 with Vista?

Trying to create Word .doc file; selecting 'save as' "document" doesn't work since it shows that it is an Adobe pdf (only have the Reader at present).  The only extensions (or at least two that I have tried to use) so far are .xml and .rtf.    None of this seems to attach to my email consistently and even 'copy and pasting' can be erratic. Documents have never been a problem at work, but this is my new home system E521 w/ home use disc.
Would appreciate any questions or comments that would lead to a solution.
Thanks.

ps.   When will autocad 2006 be able to be installed on Vista OS?

If you're opening a PDF file, then you'll need a program to convert the file to a Word document. (Do a search on the Internet).

AutoCad is available (Since last month) for Vista. You'll need the upgrade version. Contact the AutoCad company.
