Roxio Creator 9.0 DE RCPCore.msi

When trying to run Roxio Creator DE (installed? on my Vostro 1520/XP SP3 by Dell) an installer asked for the file RCPCore.msi. I inserted the Roxio Creator 9.0 DE disk, chose the correct file and clicked OK. The resulting error message was "An installation package for the product Roxio Creator 9.0 DE cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package RCPCore.msi."

Well, I thought I'd just reinstall the whole shooting match from the installation CD. That seemed to work, the registration page came up with an installation code already inserted, and it proceeded to "install". However, trying to use it resulted in an installer asking for the file RCPCore.msi, etc.

What gives?
