office 2003 needs to be reinstalled but it was preloaded by dell - how do i proceed?

i use outlook all the time and have word 2003 as its default editor, but 9 times out of 10 in hangs-up, so i guess i need to reinstall word 2003, but a) i don't want to lose ANY word or outlook files / docs on my laptop.

Martynelmy,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

You will need to back up the files and documents as well as any outlook files or archives to CD/DVD or a USB key. You then can reinstall Office 2003. Once it is reinstalled you can restore your files, docs, etc.. back into the system. Office was preloaded with your system but, the disk was also shipped with the system. Dell no longer has office 2003.

Instead of reinstalling, just change your Outlook setting and do not use Word as editor. It's not needed since Outlook has its own editor.

sorry but you don't seem to have read the original question, if i had the disks i would of course re-install and would not have written on this forum, but it was pre-loaded by dell who do not supply the disks, i assume there is a version hidden on my hard-drive somewhere, so need to access it and probably would need a code to activate - sadly to find this is seems you have to pay to contact dell
