PowerEdge 610R vSphere 4.0 support for v4 DLT (160/320)
I have a customer who has three R610 units using vSphere 4.0 all connected to a SAN.
Plan was to backup to disk, now they asked about connecting a tape unit from another server.
I know a past coworker had had success using esxi connected to a tape unit and using vmware scsi pass through or something.
Can anyone tell me if the r610 has an external SCSI connector that is support by vSphere? is there a part from dell that I could purchase , can you give me the name.

The motherboard on the R610 doesn't have a SCSI controller. You'll have to add a PCIe SCSI controller. I would recommend to go with the Dell option for the R610, which should be the "Dell Single Channel Ultra 320 SCSI PCIe Host Adapter" that's available as a choice under "Additional controller" when building an R610.
