2nd Hard drive not recognized in BIOS

I have a Dimension 4600i with a 120 gig EIDE hard disk, two CD/DVD-ROM and one floppy disk, running XP SP2.BIOS si Version A07.

I add a 2nd EIDE 120gig hard disk on it, changed the jumper on both HDD to Cable Select and put the new HDD on the middle connector of the cable.

On the BIOS i just get following information:
Primary Slave Drive = OFF
Madel = unknown
Drive Type = OFF

The BIOS does not recognize the new HDD, but the System Manager (Add Hardware Wizard) on XP recognize the new one. I can also see the new HDD on the System in the Control Panel and I'm able to partitioned and formatted it, but I have not done yet by using the Windows XP Disk Management. It recognize the new HDD also by the right type.

What's the problem in the BIOS, do i need to upgrade to A12?

Thanks for your advice.

Go into setup, choose the field, press enter, and change the drive type to Auto.

If you cannot change the drive type, there's something wrong with either the cable or the drive.
