8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer write capability???
i know it's a stupid question, but i really confused. :robotsad:
i am going to buy a inspiron 600m, and for the optical selection, what does "8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer write capability" mean? does it mean the DVD and CD drives both have the RW capability? is it a combo drive? and what is "double-layer write capability"? Thanks a lot.

read and write DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW media. Also it will read commercial
(movie) DVDs. The dual-layer refers to writing to dual-layer DVD media
which doubles the amount of memory, however, dual layer media is still
expensive. In short, the drive does it all.

That does not say anything as Dell uses different makes the DVD drives.
Have a look in device manager and see what description is given for your drive.
