I haven't seen a dual layer disc for sale. Anyone know if it takes a special disc or if just uses a regular writeable.

dual layer burning requies a dual layer disc. The standard DVD+R blank disc is only single layer

I hope that link works, if it does it will bring you to a product Dell sells from Verbatim. It has 1 DVD+R DL 8.5GB disc (that's the dual layer disc, the other 9 in the pack are single layer), 8 DVD+R 4.7GB discs and 1 DVD+RW 4.7GB disc.

Haven't tried burning a dual layer yet because of 1) the cost for the dual layer disc is quite substantial still, Individually sell for about $20 Canadian (~$17 American) and 2) can't find a reason to burn 8.5 GB of data.

Ouch. That is kinda steep. But it would be good to be able to back up my music collection on a single disk. But 20bucks a pop, it'll be awhile before I go for the convience of a single disk, (yeah when their half that cost then maybe). (grin)
