Activating raid on the Studio XPS

Hi all, I received the Studio XPS a week ago, with just a single hard drive and of course Vista 64.  I have installed two 1Tb drives that I want to run in Raid 1.  When I change the SATA mode in the BIOS from ATA to RAID, Vista blue screens on startup (STOP 0x7b).  This is a problem most likely with the drive controller now being incorrect.  I'm assuming that because Vista was installed at the factory with the ATA setting, Vista has been setup with the RAID controller deactivated.  I have tried enabling the iaStorV driver in the registry, without any difference.  Anyone have any clues on this "cart before the horse" problem???  The drives work fine in ATA mode, by the way.

Thanks, larry

You have to reinstall Vista when you switch from ATA to Raid.

folks, I tried re-installing Vista from the "Recovery GUI/Startup Repair" window. This was after I put the RAID 1 Drives at SATA0 and SATA1. It still won't boot. I am using Acronis to clone from the Master 500Gig Factory Drive.

So, I take it I need to restore from the DVD and not from the Repair Gui. Correct?
