Best external Blu-Ray Drive for a Dimension 45000?
Is it possible to use an USB connected external Blu-Ray Player for a Dimension 4500? What brands are best to buy?
Also any concerns, such as loading software so that it will play Blu-Rays?
I have Power DVD software that came with the computer.

Your Dimension 4500 very likely does not meet the system requirements for BD disc playback.
If you are still running XP, you can forget about. http://www.pcworld.com/article/122738/most_monitors_wont_play_new_hd_video.html
Take a look at the requirements for the Plextor http://www.plextor-digital.com/index.php/en/External-Blu-ray/px-b120u/Specifications.html

Hi Reneerose242000,
It is about the same price to buy a Blu-ray tabletop player as an external computer drive. And most of them will allow you to access Netflix and other internet video services.

Thanks for that article. I guess I won't be buying any external drives.

I guess I'm in for buying a tabletop player then. I guess I was sort of trying to save costs. :emotion-10: I was also thinking of upgrading to a better laptop with Windows 7. :emotion-1:

Certainly a new PC with Windows 7 and a blu-ray drive will be an improvement over an old Dimension 4500.
