Blue Screen with an error

Hi all together.

I'm from Germany and my English is not very good.

Yesterday I derfragment my 1 month old Dell Dimension 8300 because the hard drive said idt to me. But today I turn on my PC and after the PC load Windows XP Home Edition there was a blue Screen with an error massege like this:" Please start the PC again in the save-Modus." But when I start my PC in the save Modus the blue screen came again. I haven't installed no new hardware before I defragment my PC.

What can I do to make Windows run again!?

Please help my. I want to play Games and watch DVds with my new Computer

350Z,

Thank you for visiting the Dell Community Forum.

What you are describing does not sound like an issue with your hard drive but rather a problem with Windows. If you have not already done so you may want to post your message in the Software – Windows XP Forum as you may be more likely to get responses to software questions in that Forum.

You can run the hard drive diagnostics to see if any failures were indicated with the hard drive. You can do this by restarting your system and pressing the F12 key during startup while the Dell Splash screen is displayed and this should give you a menu with the option to run the diagnostics.

But I think it's a Hard Drive problem because I done this test and the PC show me that there is an error when I want to test my hard drive.

350Z,

If the hard drive diagnostics gives you an indication of a drive failure, you should contact Dell Technical Support as the drive may need to be replaced.
