Bluescreen after installing DVD-ROM
My Lite-On DVD-Rom arrive today and I installed it in place of my Samsung CD-RW. It seemed to work fine. Windows XP Pro recognized it immediately and I tried it out by putting a DVD into it and it automatically played with sound, picture and all.
After that, I tried to make a copy of my home made wedding DVD. Put in the disc and just pressed the button on the DVD+/-RW when I got the blue screen. Restarted the computer and everything seemed as per normal. Started the program first and then put in both discs. Everything was fine. However, it it wouldn't copy the disc. It kept popping out the DVD+/-RW and saying that it couldn't read the disc. So I replaced with another disc and the same thing happened. Then I tried to take out the source disc and the fatal bluescreen came on again.
I omitted the usual stuff and only included the data below:
...................
The message of the bluescreen basically consists of
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
.......................
STOP:0x00000050(0xFC449000,0x00000000,0x804F69GB,0x00000000)
..........................
Beginning dump of physical memory.........
I recently got my Phillips 8631 replaced with a NEC 3530A, replaced my Samsung CD-RW with a Lite-On SOHD-16P9S DVD-rom. The only disc software I have is the Sonic which came pre-installed on my computer.
Any ideas? I need to make copies of my home made wedding DVD(no copyright on it) to give out to friends and I need to be able to burn homevideos from my camcorder soon.
Thanks!!!

Update to the problem.
I downloaded the Dell Crash Anaylsis tool and ran it. It came back with a tfsnifs.sys driver from TFS Technology, current version 1.04.08a needing updating. I googled TFS Technology but came back with nothing useful.
Can anyone help? Is this a software or hardware issue?
Thanks.

Hi danz,
This is Sonic`s software, jump over to their site and apply the latest update. Member Marilyngl just posted good results from the PX engine update:

Thank you. I will take a look at it when I get home. Can you please give me a general description/reason what causes the blue screen? I've had 2 computers in the past where that happened and I fooled around with it till it went away...but each time, I couldn't pinpoint exactly what caused it.
In addition, I've read a few posts that Sonic is not as realiable/compatible as Roxio. Is this a true statement?
Thanks

Hi Danz,
Lately we have been seeing problems with Sonic`s DLA program, more than likely due to it "locking" the drive for use. One of Regulars Jim H, works closely with Roxio and is looking into it. As for which is better, well the issue may be moot Sonic bought Roxio out, however our Regulars here will tell you the two best in the past has been Roxio & Nero.
Best Regards
