You're sure there is no disc in the CD drive, right? Did you try simply swapping the boot priority between the hard drive and CD?

Bumwithshoes:

Your problem is slightly different. The BIOS will give you the F1/F2 prompt if any changes are detected that cannot be automatically configured. You need to hit F1, go into the BIOS and check things like your drive configuration to make sure it matches your system hardware.

If you need more help, I'm going to need to know the model of your Dell computer and your drives.

Checked the CDROM's are clear, and yes ive changed the boot priority to every possible combination.

Ive even upgraded the bios from 1.07 to 1.08 and still the same problem, after waiting 5 weeks for this to arrive i really dont want to send it back and get a replacement.

Try the BIOS forum. I really don't think this is a hard drive problem.

Thanks for the replies,

I got a hold of a helpfull chap on the phone to tech help, after trying a few things he had me open up the the computer and move the hard drive cable from sata 0 to sata 3 on the motherboard (the only spare).

Then i had too remove the cmos battery, which wasnt easy because the graphics card was in the way.

On boot up i had to change the settings in the bios to reflect what we had done, after about 3 more boot ups the problem went away and all seems fine atm.

Summary  - loose hard drive plug on sata 0, or sata 0 connection faulty on the motherboard.

Thanks all

Plugster.
