Sounds like you need to run system restore, but since you cannot start your system, you'll need to run it from the command prompt. First, start your system and go immediately into system setup, and set your CD-ROM as the first boot device.
Then insert you XP Reinstallation disc, restart your computer, and follow these instructions:
