CD/DVD drive/IDE code 12 error w/port replicator

Question

I have a Dell Inspiron 8500.  I recently attached the computer to a Dell D/Port Advanced Port Replicator and D-Family monitor stand.  When my laptop is docked - the CD/DVD drive is not recognized, and I have the following errors in Device manager: -Secondary IDE Channel: This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)  under the resources tab - IRQ displays with a red slash and the error 'Interrupt Request 15 used by:  Communications Port (COM4)' displays-Communications Port (Com 4):This device cannot start. (Code 10) My DVD/CD drive works fine when the laptop is not docked.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled all drivers - what else can I try?

Khaynes, Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum. The only way to fix this problem is to replace the motherboard. Contact Dell Support as soon as you can to get the motherboard replaced. You can find more information by reading the thread here.

I have the same problem, but when I clicked on the link for the other thread it didn't exist. When you say the only solution is to replace the motherboard, is this on my Inspiron 8500 or my port replicator?

I seem to be having the same problem as you have described in the forum posting referenced in this message. I have tried to work with technical support to no avail and all other postings that I have found that describe this problem I seem to be unable to access. Can you please help or provide any further detail into this problem?
