CD/DVD not recognized when booting from select bay

I run an Inspiron 8200 with Windows XP Pro SPII.

When booting from the main hard drive, the CD/DVD is recognized by the system.
When booting from a clone located in the Select Bay, every thing is normal except the CD/DVD drive that does not appear.
Probably some BIOS propblem. BIOS version A11.

Any idea, welcome.

The BIOS reports "Optical Drive not found" when booting from the second hard drive.

However, if I plug the first hard drive in, but disable it in the BIOS, when I boot from the second hard drive the optical drive is recognized.

So the problem is solved: it is a special WIRING inside the laptop that prevents the optical drive to be recognized by the BIOS when the first hard drive is not PHYSICALLY present!

Could you ask the Dell hardware department what could be the reason for such a strange wiring?
