CD-RW always creates read-only CDs

Latitude 610, Matshita UJDA330 CD-RW, Windows 2000 Pro

I have two issues.  First, I cannot get the Roxio Easy CD software (v 5.1) to properly install.  It appears to work, but upon reboot, the Windows installer appears and tries to "install" the software.  It says that it's complete, then starts over.  Does this about 15 times, then the system completes the boot.  If I try to use the software, the installer comes up again.  Once it finally goes away, I get various error messages whenever I try to start the software.  Uninstall/reinstall does no good.

So I downloaded a couple of other CD burners.  Nero and DeepBurner.  Both install and work just fine.  However, they both result in CDs that become read-only.  That is, if I put in a blank CD-RW disk, and copy a 10K file to it, it works, but then I cannot erase that file or add any additional files to the disk.  BUT ONLY ON THE LATITUDE.  If I take the same disk to my desktop, I can read, write, and erase all I want.

Any ideas?  And are the two problems somehow related?

Multisession was turned on in Nero.  As I said, I can write to the CD once on the Latitude and after that it views it as read-only.  But if I take that same CD to another machine, I can write and erase.  The reverse is also true.  A CD created on another machine as a RW gets treated as read-only if I try it on the Latitude.

In Nero you have to be sure that "Multisession" is enabled. If the "No Multisession" box is checked you will not be able to add files to the CD. It sounds like you have the "No Multisession" option selected.
