CD and DVD player not recognized by computer..

How do I set up my DVD and CD player as Master and the other as Slave?

Set the jumper on both drives to cable select. There is a little diagram or picture on the drive itself showing which jumper position corresponds to CS. Then the drive connected to the end of the cable is in the master position and the other is slave. Boot to system setup (F2 at the blue Dell logo) to make sure both drives are turned on and seen by the computer.

Ok, you PMed me that, 'I set the jumpers on both drives to cable select and used the F2 to ensure the drivers were turned on. I received a msg that driver 1-5 could not be found...any additional info?' Can you tell me the system model?

I'll unplug them and reconnect them.   Which should be connected to the Master? the DVD or CD or it does it matter?

Put the DVD at the end (master position).
