Can I recover CinePlayer???

Hi,

I accidentally deleted Dell CinePlayer in the software add/remove.  Now my windows media player will not play dvd's because it says it is missing a dvd decoder, which I assume was in the Dell CinePlayer software.  Is there any way to get this reinstalled without a FULL computer reinstall (ctr/F11) which will lose all my data??

I do have the original cd, but I cant figure out how to only install Cineplayer.  It just has install XP.  My pc is a C531.

Thanks so much!!  Joe

Hi Joe,

You are correct, uninstalling Cineplayer removed the necessary codecs Media Center needs. The original Cd you are speaking about, Install XP, is your Operating System disc, Windows XP; it does not have Cineplayer on it. You should have a separate disc which has the Cineplayer software.
If you do not, then you will need to contact Dell and request all of your discs.
Here is the form:
Request Backup discs

If you are in a pinch, click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 7-5, article 15 and try one of these players our Regulars recommend; both work well with Windows.

Best Regards

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do
and the eyesight to tell the difference.
