Cannot enter Bios after enabling sata port
Hi Community,
i have a Optiplex 755 and added a second harddrive.
In the bios the sata 2 and 3 ports were disabled, i enabled both because i didn´t know on witch port the new drive was connected.
After a reboot the system stuck on "Drive 3 not found: Serial ATA, sata-3".
When i unplug the new drive i get the above message for drive 2 and drive 3!
I can only power off the system, the keyboard is not working in this moment. After a reboot, i can select F2 or F12 but the system will stuck with the same error.
I tryed connecting a third drive to the missing port but then there is no error message but there is only a black screen with a blinking cursor. No chance to enter the bios setup.
The bios version is A08.
Can someone help me please.

Hi Andreas,
Thanks for clearing that up for me!
What may help is resetting the BIOS. To do this, you will need to follow the steps here: ftp.dell.com/.../optiplex-755_user%27s%20guide_en-us.pdf (search for Clearing CMOS Settings).
Before switch the system back on, make sure that the system is back to its original state (i.e. the original hard drive and optical drive). This may allow you to boot to the operating system successfully and get access to the System Setup as well.
Let me know how you get on!

Hi John,
you are correct. I want to have 2 hard drives and 1 optical.
The problem is, as I described, that I cannot enter the bios setup to disable the unused sata port.
So I´m currently unable to update the bios to.

Hi there,
From what I understand, you have two hard drives in the system currently and possibly and optical drive - is that correct?
What happens if you only enable SATA ports 0, 1 and 2? Does the system boot to your operating system okay?
Also, your BIOS version is out of date - if you are able to boot to your operating system, please download and run the following update as this may resolve any issues you are experiencing: www.dell.com/.../optiplex-755
Hope to hear from you soon!
