Change drive interface mode in BIOS

I have an approximately 9 year old Dell 670 desktop running Win 7. I would like to replace the IDE boot drive with an SATA drive. Unfortunately, all of the software I have been able to find to clone the drive requires that both the "from" and "to" drives must be operating in the same mode, i.e., both IDE or both SATA. One of the discussions I found referred to temporarily setting the SATA controller to IDE mode in the BIOS. Does anyone know if this is possible and, if so, how to do it?

Hi ranchodude,

I checked the manual and do not see any way to change the SATA controller to ATA mode. But boot to the BIOS and look around. You may find the option even though it's not in the manual.
