Choosing Between Optical Drives on New Dell

HI...Getting ready to finalize a purchase of a Vostro 400. I am deciding between these two optical drive choices and need a little guidance.

Choice 1- Dual Drives: 16X (DVD+/-RW) Burner and 48X CD Burner/DVD Combo [add $45]

Choice 2-   Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + 16x (DVD+/-RW) Burner [add $55]

It seems to me that choice 1 has more to it but choice 2 is more expensive. Can someone tell me what I am missing?

Hi, John:

Having two drives is nice for copying disc to disc. But if you have a DVD burner, the CD-RW/DVD combo is redundant. I would get the RW and ROM drives.

I'm wondering why the DVD-ROM option for the second drive is more expensive than getting the second writer. Makes me think I'm missing something. Does it include something more?

Can someone (Maybe from Dell) clear this up for me. I am about to purchase a system and holding out until I get a clarification. Thanks. John

If you really want to save the $10, then get the combo.

Not the point at all. I want to know what the difference is that makes the DVD-ROM option more valuable.

I'm not privy to Dell's pricing strategies, but for a new system, a $10 price difference is insignificant.
