Computer does not recognized HD DVD
I have a Dell Dimension 9200 desktop
The hard drive is;
Sony DVD +-RW-Q160S
TSST Corp CDRWDVD TS-H493A
I have tons of videos of my kids and I cannot get the computer to even read them. They were done
with a Sony HD Handycam on the HD mode. I am trying to make our own little movies with the videos
and pictures.
Can anyone tell me what I need to do or change to get my computer to recognize the mini HD DVD's.
I really appreciate it!
Liz

Hi, Liz:
Although your camera is a Sony HD Handycam, it does not mean the discs are HD DVD. They may be 8-cm DVD RW discs. Can you provide the model of your camera?

It is a Sony Handycam HDR-UX1, DCR-DVD201.
I use the mini Sony handycam DVD-R and record in HD mode versus SD mode. It gives you the option when you first put in a new disk.
The side of the camcorder says "Full HD, 1080i recording" don't know if that helps or matters?!?!?

I hope I am answering your question correctly...
The discs are sony handycam DVD-R 30 min, 1.4GB/Go?
Is this the information you are asking for??
I really appreciate you helping too!

Those discs are made by TDK. The reviews are decidedly mixed in terms of compatibility. However, this is true of all 8-cm discs.
Have you tried reading this disc in both of your DVD drives?

Put the DVD in the drive, it gave me a box showing
BDMV
File Folder
Double clicked it and it opened up to
BACKUP Clipinf
Playlist Stream
Index.bdmv MovieObject.bdmv
Double clicked MovieObject.bdmv
and it said it could not open and asked me to choose an installed program to open or find one on the internet, so I asked it to open using Windows Media Player.
That says it has an extension "BDMV" that is not recognized by Windows Media but that it may still be able to play it.
But, would not play it. I hope this gives you some information that will help solve it!!!

It seems like your disc is being read. What you need to do now is follow the instructions that came with your camera to transfer the video to your computer.
Glad that's working!! Take care,
