Computer does not see either cd/dvd drives

My computer was fine yesterday, then today it wont play any cd's, after some investigating, I see that it does not even see either cd/dvd rom drives. I have performed virus scans with none showing. I'm stumped. Please help.

Have you turned the computer all the way off and back on, then checked in device manager under CD drives? Anything showing?

Try uninstalling the upper and lower filters, following these instructions:

You guys rock!!! I used the Dell article you provided and that fixed. I waited on the phone for over an hour and then tried the chat option for support and they wanted me to open up the case and start changing cables around...I knew that wasn't the issue. Thanks alot for the help guys!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just curious.  Did you remove Roxio to cause this problem?

Europa,

For your general information, we have seen this issue related to a number of third party burning software, from Roxio, Nero, Sonic, even Music Match and iTunes. Also, strangely from one from boot to another and the Member stating nothing has changed.
Whether this is the case here, cannot say.

Take care

I think the answer is threaded.  What is linear? I do see all posts from top to bottom . . .

Europa,

You are welcome.

May I ask, which Dell view are you using, Linear or Threaded?

Best Regards
