The case is to look nice, you dont need it. You need a CD drive from a Latitude " C " series, and the IDE cable. This would be what they refer to as the media cables. Some models had a floppy cable to connect to the printer port. This would be the other cable. I am not sure of the part number, but I think it may be 3G265 for the IDE cable. It is different to the cable used on the CS and " L " series. ( 10NRN )
10NRN is the cable you need, and any " C " series CD drive, it can be a DVD or writer or combo. Be a little wary buying on Ebay, as some sellers put a different drive in the housing.
I have the drive, just need a cable. Was on Ebay, didnt realize how expensive that cable is. Not ready to pay almost $40 with shipping costs at the moment. I know that is cheaper than Dell directly but still a lot of cash for a small cable.

I have a Latitude CS laptop and I have been trying to find a part number for the external CD-ROM drive as well.
Is 10NRN the number? And is Ebay the palce to go for one?
